Who We Are

Founded by Emily Iverson, Independence Therapy opened its south Austin clinic in February 2021. We are licensed speech language pathologists who specialize in speech, myofunctional, and feeding therapy, and are dedicated to improving our patient’s quality of life.

We are passionate about evaluating and treating speech sound disorders, language disorders, early language development, language difficulties that coincide with autism, oral motor dysfunction and apraxia, airway disorders, infant feeding (including tongue tie, reflux, food sensitivities/allergies, breastfeeding, bottle refusal), oral and pharyngeal phase dysphagia, and feeding difficulties including transition to solids, picky eating in older children, and poor chewing abilities from tongue tie.

We believe in the importance of finding the root cause of dysfunction, as well as treating the presenting symptoms, for an effective and functional approach. We empower our patients by providing patient/parent training and provide home exercise programs to ensure fastest progress. We love helping our patients meet their goals and their personal level of independence!
